WILD GLASGOW MEETING
LABOUR MEN IN MELEE SEVENTEEN ARRESTS MADE (United Service) LONDON, Wednesday. A foretaste of what the candidates of all parties may expect in the forthcoming’ general election was experienced by the former Labour Home Secretary. Mr. Arthur Henderson. Air. J. Wheatley, M.P., and Mr. David Kirkwood, M.P., at a riotous meeting, at Glasgow. Communist shouts of “Spy, murderer, traitor!” greeted Mr. Henderson, whose first words, “If you were in Russia,” were lost in the pandemonium. Mr. Kirkwood removed his spectacles, and jumped from the platform into the melee. The police intervened and arrested 17 persons, including Guy Aldred, a notorious Communist, four women and a blind man, upon which Mr. Henderson shouted; “The revolution is now over.”
