FRILLY LACE FOR TENNIS SOCKS!
FASHION’S INCONSISTENCY PASTEL SHADING Fashion in her inconsistency often creates some of the prettiest styles for frocks, hats and handbags. But until fully tested the latest style in tennis socks seems a doubtful success. When first came dainty little socks for the tennis courts, they were unobtrusive and delightfully plain, la fact, there was no difference between them and those worn by Miss Eleven.' Then came the vogue for coloured tops to tone with tennis frocks and shoes. And, after this, the flowerbedecked little white or pink socks worn to tone with frocks garlanded with lines of floral embroidery. Now Lace Tops Although little net and silk socks have made their entry into the fashion world, the ordinary fine wool, or silk-and-wool socks have been first favourites. Natural and coloured laces are now considered “the thing” for tennis socks tops. The shops are displaying cream and pastel-shaded socks with wide bands of lace slightly ruched on the tops. As a rule, lace and wool don’t take to each other; the exception has been found, however, in this latest craze tor woollen socks with lace tops.
