150 TO COME VIA SUVA (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) SUVA, Tuesday. The Sutlej sailed for Calcutta this afternoon, with 654 Indians who are being repatriated. . They took a wavover £20,000. Of the 750 passengers who came to Fiji on the Sutlej about 150 are Sikhs, who will probably proceed to New Zealand later. They are now learning the Dominion education test. Their fares will be paid by their compatriots in New Zealand. A MISUNDERSTANDING Press Association WELLINGTON', To-day. j From inquiries in official sources it appears the information in the cablegram from Suva regarding Indians is not based on facts known to the customs authorities in New Zealand. It is also apparent that the message was sent in ignorance of the conditions under which Indians are permitted to come into New Zealand as permanent residents. A permit is necessary under the Act of 1920. They can land as visitors or for busi- | ness reasons on proof of intentions, and that they intend to leave again . within six months.
