MARKET VERY FIRM (From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON. Tuesday. There was an average attendance at the first stock sale of 1929, conducted at the Frank ton yards to-day. The yarding of cow and heifer beef was satisfactory and quotations continued firm at late rates. A heavy yarding of sheep and pigs came forward to sell under steady competition, little alteration on latest quotations being recorded. Reports The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited: Medium fat steers made up to £l4 13s; light prime, £l2 to £l2 16s; prime heavy cows, £lO 26s to £ll 19s: medium weight prime, £9 11s to £lO 7s: lighter, £7 15s to £S 15s; unfinished, £5 16s to. £7; stores. £5 8s to £5 ss. A full number of fat sheep was penned and sold firm at late values. Prime wethers realised up to 325; fat ewes, 21s to 22s 6d; fat 2-tooth ewes in wool, 32s Sd; shorn, 24s lOd to 26s lOd; good mixed sex Romney store lambs, 21s 3d; Down cross lambs, 21s lOd; small, 14s Gd. A good yarding of fat pigs sold at improved values. AUSTRALIAN STUD SHEEP ARRIVAL AT TIMBUKTU (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) SYDNEY, Tuesday. Australian stud sheep have been dispatched to various countries in recent years to meet the needs of breeders who desire to improve the local flocks. The latest news in this connection reports the arrival of a consignment of 200 sheep at Timbuktu. They left Sydney on October 8, and arrived in good condition. None was lost on the trip.

DECEMBER CRUSHINGS (Special to THE SUN) YVAIHI, To-day. The following information lias been cabled to London by the Waihi Gold Mining Co.:—“For the period ending December 31, comprising 28 crushing days. 22,864 tons of ore were crushed for a result of 6,810 fine ounces of gold, and 70,851 fine ounces of silver. This includes 1,082 tons from the Junction area, *which yielded 50 ounces of gold and 6,332 ounces of silver. This is the final return for the year 1928. LONDON METAL MARKET (Australian and N.Z.
