JERVIS BAY RINGLEADER
JACKSON IN HULL GAOL
AUSTRALIA’S RESPONSIBILITY
(Australian and N.Z. Press Association) LONDON, Monday.
The Australian and New Zealand Press Association learns that the Cuban half-caste, Jackson, the central figure in the Jervis Bay riot at sea, who arrived in England by the Largs Bay from Colombo, has been gaoled at Hull. The British authorities are not allowing him to land because he is not a Briton. It is understood that there is a likelihood of the Australian authorities being held responsible for him. He may have to be returned to Australia. The remainder of the stowaways, including the Cuban, were in the words of a ship’s officer, as docile as lambs throughout the voyage.
