A STRIKE DECLARED

AUSTRALIAN TIMBER MEN SATURDAY WORK REFUSED Reed. 11 a.m. SYDNEY, To-day. Following a refusal by the timberworkers to do any Saturday work, the secretary of the Timber Merchants’ Association has advised the Federal Industrial Registrar that there is a strike in the industry. The secretary stated that four hours’ pay would be deducted from the men’s wages for not working on Saturday. This is the first strike in the industry since 1927.
