THREE CHILDREN SAVED

SWIMMER’S GALLANT RESCUE BATHERS AT MANAWATU HEADS (Special to THE SUN) PALMERSTON N., Monday. Three children, two boys and a girl, all under 12, were saved from drowning at Manawatu Heads yesterday afternoon by Allen Beatty, aged IS. One of the boys got out of his depth and was being swept away when his brother waded in to save him, and the girl followed. Allen Beatty noticed their plight, and, plunging in. brought the three to shore. Organised assistance was given over the last stretch by a chain of bathers being formed. Beatty was in a bad way when he came to shore finally, and was unable to go to work to-day. The children, however, were none the worse for their experience.
