VERDICT AT INQUEST WAS ENGINE WHISTLE BLOWN? Press Association GISBORNE, Monday. At the inquest covering the death of John Penny, lorry-driver, who was killed on December G, the coroner gave a verdict that death was due to w ith a train. He remarked, *vT«+ ls * 1S , Linfortunute occurrence that is still clouded. The only point open, to doubt is whether the whistle was sounded. If it were blown, was it at such distance that it was not heard by the occupants of the car approaching the crossing.”
