VANBRUGH—BOUCICAULT
HIS MAJESTY’S NEXT MONDAY Irene Vanbrugh and Dion Boucicauit have been for years, and still are, two of the outstanding figures on the £ni’hsli speaking stage, and they are jus: a.s popular in New Zealand as they are in England and Australia. Four years ago they delighted us in nUrr ? ber of notable plays, including * lls * louse in Order,” ‘ The Second Mrs. Tanqueray,” “Aren’t We All” and Mr. Pun Passes By.” During the approaching season, which begiqs on Monday night next, C. ii, Openshaw’s clever comedy All the King’s Horses” is to be staged hero for the first time, they have selected a brilliant repertoire of sue* cesstul comedies and dramas which will give them opportunities to display at its very best, their finished artistry in comedy and dramatic roles. The character of Alice Everett created lor Miss Vanbrugh, and it was m this part that the brilliant actress made her reappearance in London after her triumphant tour of New Zealand and Australia. Playgoers and critics in England declared that Miss Vanbrurn had never been seen to better advantage, as the part gives her opportunities to shine in both comedy and dram . Australian critics also shared this opinion, and it also conceded thc.t Mr. Boucicauit, too, is at his very bent n the role of "Wilfred Everett. “All the King’s Horses” is hung i*n the peg of Wilfred Everett's inordinate conceit, which is only shattered by the Gopearance of one of his early anillicit loves. His wife finds him out and uses her knowledge to humanist her husband and gain justice for her son and daughter. Miss Annie Saker. a brilliant London actress, will appear as Mrs. Maunder?, and Rowena Ronald, the dainty Australian artist, will take the part of J'-’ and Ronald "Ward that of Jack. MJ. B. Rowe, another importation from London, will appear as Richard. Only three performances can b* staged of “All the King’s Horses” ana it will be followed by three productions each of “Oh Approval” and “The Wffi Road.” During the brief season wi:also be staged “Caroline,” “Belinda. “Nell O’ New Orleans” and “Mr. Pic Passes Bv.”
