The damp atmosphere of Dunedin should eminently suitable for spinning and graving. MINING NEWS OHINEMURI. The superintendent J> ports: Operations at the mine were resumed on the 4th inst. In the north section in No. 4 level the south drive is now 271 ft from the "Telluride" crosscut. Its course has been directed toward the winze from No. 3 level, but the hanging wall of the reef should be encountered iu another 25 to 30ft of driving. At a . <»rresponding point in No. 3 level sulphide ore is showing in the drive. In the No. 3 level the rise at 570 ft north is up 43ft and has reached oxidised ore. Sulphide ore of high grade has been earned with this rise for 40ft. Preparations are in hand for the commencement «*f sinking: No. 2 winze at a point 720 ft north, where the first connection with No. 4 level will be made. The No. 1 winze on “Silver Queen" reef was suspended at a depth of 16ft pending drainage by No. 4 level. The reef is at least M't wide in highly payable ore. A drive «*n the southerly extension of the "Silver i.'ucen” lode is being put in hand. In ■the south section the drive south from • P” crosscut is along 457 ft in ore of fair gi ade. At the mill excellent progress is filing made with the construction work l-*r the new plant.
