dame's Adams and Melody beat Misses Ramsay v and aMtheson, 6—l, 6—3; Mrs. Arneil and Miss Stevens beat Mrs. Grant and Miss Bundle, 6 —l, 5 —6, 6—3. Final: Mesdames Adams and Melody beat Mrs. Arneil and Miss Stevens, 6—2, 6—2. France’s cut shots on the heavy courts were too much for RhodesWilliams, Mrs. Melody’s slicing and cutting had the same effect on Miss May Andrew. In the mixed doubles Stedman and Miss Andrew met Rhodes-Williams and Miss Gibson (Timaru). The pairs were evenly matched, but Miss Andrew appeared very fatigued, and as a result had to carry the brunt of the game, as both their opponents concentrated their attack jupon her. The final of the women’s doubles was won without difficulty by Mesdames Melody and Adams, who showed superiority over Mrs. Arneil and Miss Stevens in every department. The girls’ singles was contested by twin sisters, Misses Jean and Joan Ward. The game was won by Joan by G—3, 6—4. The Ward sisters, receiving 20. also won the women’s handicap doubles, beating Misses Ramsay and Matheson, scr., in the final, by ao—-44. Miss Joan was successful again in the women’s handicap singles. The boys’ singles championship was won by A. J. Rickie, a promising young player, and son of C. J. Dickie (Wa.verHe also won the B grade handicap singles. J. C. Charters (Whangarei) was successful in the A grade singles handicap. The doubles was won by tho Wellington pair, Forbes and Lezard, who received 18. CANADA AND DAVIS CUP (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) (United Service) TORONTO, Saturday. The Canadian Lawn Tennis Association has decided to challenge for the Davis Cup.
