“RAZZBERRY!”
I ENTERPRISING DIRECTOR 1 j MARKETS NEW MOTOR i ! ACCESSORY j I L Just to show you what a wonderful place Hollywood really is, I offer the following page from my last week’s diary, writes Cedric Belvrage in an English journal. Among the presents following my marriage recently I received from a well-known director a box bearing the inscription “Jazzbird, the Bigger and Better Razzberry.” I should explain that “razzberry” is the American slang term for a rude noise made with the mouth, and enshrined for ever among American customs by the superb rendition of it by Ted McNamara in the film “What Price Glory.” The box contained an odd-looking contraption which, affixed on the end of the exhaust of one’s car, produces at the pull of a wire a tremendous “razzberry” sound to be heard for miles; the idea being to put it into action when annoyed by brusque drivers who try to pass when there is no room ahead. The director in question had himself invented this device, and I undei stand will clear about £IO,OOO profit on it. It is now being sold all over the United States and is considered indispensable by all up-to-date college boys. The strangest part of it all is that j the crazier life becomes here, the more we like it. I assure you that i driving a car w'ith a “razzberry” attachment for the benefit of policemen and truck-drivers is the most exhilarating sensation yet conceived.
