DISAPPEARING NOVELIST
ECHO OF CHRISTIE MYSTERY HUSBAND REMARRIES A romantic sequel to the remarkable disappearance two years ago of Mrs. Agatha Christie, the well-known writer of mystery and detective novels, was provided by the recent marriage at Princes Row (London) Register Of flee of Colonel Archibald Christie, the novelists's divorced husband, and Miss Nancy Neele, daughter of Mr. C. W Neele, of Croxley Green, Herts. “Neele” was the name taken by Mrs. Christie when she vanished, suffering from loss of memory, from her home at Sunningdale, Berkshire, in 192tj. She reappeared at Harrogate in 19°6 Teresa Neele, of Cape Town. South Africa. The circumstances of her disappearance excited the country. Mrs Chrisite, without saying where she was going, but leaving a note for her husband, drove in her motor-car from her home .lust before ten o’clock at night. Next morning the car was found abandoned at Newlands Corner near Guildford. Colonel Christie was then a guest in a house where Miss Neele was also staying. He was told of his wife's disappearance, and left no stone unturned to find her. After a 1 ortnight came a message from Horrogate. Colonel Christie rushed north, and found that the mysterious South African was his wife. Doctors were able to certify that Mrs! Christie was suffering from loss of memory. On April 20 of last year Mrs. Christie, who was married in 1914, was granted a decree nisi against her husband on the grounds of his misconduct, the other party in the case being described as a woman unknown.
