LESS INCOME-TAX
BRITISH REVENUE FIGURES ESTATE DUTIES INCREASE British Official Wireless. RUGBY, Wednesday. The Exchequer returns show a heavy reduction of over £21,000,000 in the income tax receipts, but this is mainly explained by the comparison being with a year in which, owing to changes in the machinery of collection, the receipts from the house property tax covered a period of 18 instead of 12 months. A reduction of over £4,000,000 in the super-tax is disclosed. The estate duties yielded £5,600,000 more than in the previous nine months, whereas the official estimate was for a reduction on the whole year of £5,000,000. The activity on the Stock Exchange is reflected in an increase of over £2,500,000 in stamp revenue.
