THE PASSIONATE SPECTATOR
Oh, it's hey for the flash of the J tennis ball as it whizzes ] across the net, It’s ho for the zing of a, placement ace or a dash for a J clever get. Than the joy that comes from a well-placed shot there is none more keen or rare — Tennis, indeed, is the game of games—from the' coign of a linesman’s chair. i The dimpled Colonel arches | aloft and away from the rollI ing green, j The swinging driver follows ; through with a click that is crisp and clean. | Ah! golf is a match to light the j flame of enthusiasm's torch! i Give me the kick of a close links tilt—from a seat on the clubhouse porch. ! The thud of a punt , the crack of a bat, the flash of a run- | tier's limbs, j The cleaving swoop of a perfect j drive all move me to joyful j hymns, j There's not a game, as a mat- | ter of fact, that doesn't give i I me a thrill; j There isn't a contest / can't 1 enjoy as long as I’m sitting still.
