Aucklanders Spend Night on Mt. Egmont
SEARCH PARTIES OUT i CAUGHT BY NIGHTFALL Press Association STRATFORD, To-day. Four Aucklanders, who were reported missing on Mount Egmcnt, returned to the Dawson’s Falls Mountain House to-day about noon. - Yesterday eight visitors from Auckland left the Dawson Falls for a trip to the summit. They left on the return journey in two parties of four, taking different routes. At 6.30 p.m. the members of ope party, who had returned, notified Mr. Murphy, the caretaker, that the other party of two men and two women had not returned. Mr. Murphy at once set out for the higher slopes, but found no trace. They returned late at night and arranged for additional search parties from other mountain houses, which started operating early this morning. The missing party arrived back without seeing any of the search parties. They were rot lost but benighted and, after spend jr g a comfortable night in the bush, continued the journey to Mountain House this morning.
