MAN PLUNGES THROUGH ON TERRIFIED HORSE

HEAVY DAMAGE IN N.S.W. (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) Reed. 10.25 a.m. SYDNEY, To-day. A Barallier message states that bush fires are sweeping over a 15-mile frontage between the Wollondilly and Abercrombia Rivers. The outbreak has been increasing in intensity for days. More than 10,000 acres have been swept. Station properties and fencing have been burned out. Mr. Lachlan Lang’s homestead at Bindock Station Avas gutted and Mr. Lang, surrounded by flames, had a narrow escape •from death. Mounting his terrified horse, he managed to gallop through the thinnest part of the fire. It is feared that hundreds of sheep have been burned to death. Helped by a strong Avind, the fire became beyond control. The Yerranderie silver mine and several homesteads are in imminent danger.
