LEFT WIFE DESTITUTE
HUSBAND CHANGES NAME MAGISTRATE’S CENSURE Appearing at the Police Court this morning to answer an application for separation, maintenance and guardianship orders on the ground of failure to maintain. Tlarold Malcolm, alias Wright, was severely censured by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. Ida Emma Malcolm, who had been cared for by Major Annie Gordon, female probation officer, complained that she had received no money from her husband for months. She had been assisted by the Salvation Army and other charitable organisations, but Malcolm had taken away everything that was given her and her five children had been compelled to sleep on the floor. Being told that Malcolm’s wages were £ 4 Is a week, the magistrate made orders and fixed the maintenance at £2 15s a week. “If you are a day in arrears you \\ ill go up for #ix months,” he said. “You must also report to the police, as you have been in the habit of going away under an assumed name.”
