FISHING AT ROTORUA
HOLIDAY-MAKERS’ POOR CATCHES STRONG, UNFAVOURABLE WINDS (From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, Wednesday. Anglers who have recently returned from the Rotorua district report that fishing has not been very satisfactory since Christmas. While fish have not, been too plentiful, catches daily average six per angler or party. * For the last three days a strong easterly wind has proved detrimental to successful angling. Three outboard motor-boats were in comnustflon at Ngongotaha, and most of the fishing in this area has been done by trawling. A prominent local enthusiast stated that although trout-fishing was generally successful this season, no phenomenal catches were reported. However, this is only one experience. Another man said trolling parties had been greatly disappointed. Several large fish have been caught at Waitete, Awahou and Ngongotaha, but they have been very thin. There are dozens of motorists’ camps in these localities.
