RELIGIOUS CAMP

SEVENTH DAY ADVENTISTS AT AVONDALE At Monday’s business session of the Seventh Day Adventist Conference, which is being held in camp at the Avondale Racecourse, the balancesheet and financial statement was presented by the treasurer, Miss R. Dray. During the year 1927, the conference received tithes from the churches in the North Island amounting to £10,890 15s 7d; and for the nine months ending September 30 last, the tithes received amounted to £7,607 8s 7d. In addition to the tithes, the churches have collected during the year 1928 the sum of £5,316 Is for foreign missions.

The Sabbath School secretary, Mr. J. Hookings, in his report, stated that the membership of the schools in the Norrth Island now stands at 1,588. The mission offerings contributed by these members of the Sabbath schools during the year 1927 amounted to £2,004 10s sd, while for the present year their offerings to missions amounted to £2,065 9s 9d.

During the devotional meetings at the camp, special prayers are offered on behalf of the King.

PROPHESIES ANALYSED At the public service on Monday evening, Pastor A. G. Daniells, of Washington, occupied the pulpit, taking as his subject, “ Who Will Control the Next Universal Empire.” New Year's Day was a day of activity at the camp. The devotional meetings for the adults and young people, which are held each morning at 6.30, were conducted by Pastors A. H. Piper and W W. Fletcher, respectively. The Bible study at 10 a.m. was conducted by Pastor A. G. Daniells, after which a business session of the conference was convened, Phstor W. M. R. Seragg occupying the chair. Reports were rendered by the field secretary, Mr. E. A. Turner, and the young people’s missionary volunteer secretary, Mr. C. Palmer. A number of recommendations for the advancement of the denominational work were presented by the Plans Committee for the consideration of the delegates. At the public service last evening, Pastor A. W. Anderson, of Sydney, delivered a discourse on “The Stupendous Events Which Will Happen When Jesus Comes.”
