IJINE weather again prevailed for the Auckland Trottnu Chib’s Christmas carnival which reached finality at Epsom to-day. There was a good attendance and the track was in nice order.

Winner trained by owner, Tama here. All 21 acceptors came out for the opening event, the Tamaki Handicap, and the Etta Cole —Direct Action bracket came in for good support, with £1,030, and next best backed were Bright Light, £616, and Commander best, several candidates losing ground. Passing the stands the first time Commander Bingen was making play from Billy Carbine, Direct Action. Bright Light, Some Jazz and Bingen Starr. In the next circuit Bright Light had gone into second place, ahead of Direct Action, Bingen Starr, and Anseline. Along the back the last time Commander Bingen was six lengths clear «»f Bright Light, who was fourth lengths in advance of Bingen Starr and Direct Action, and this was how they finished, Commander Bingen winning by three lengths, with Bingen Starr three parts of a length away. Invader £1,140 and Harvest Child £796 carried most money in the Park Handicap. while the winner. Lord Nepean, had only £2BB. Gold Dial. Maid of the Mountains, Glandore and Bankhead failed to go off. Admiral Lock, Bingen King, Nelson McCormack, Pitiroa, Lord Nepean and Concertina being the order going out of the straight. Down the back Nelson McCormack drew out and had a clear lead over Admiral Lock passing the stands, with Bingen King, Lord Nepean. Pitiroa, Concertina and Ribbonwood’s Last following. The favourite moved up along the back, but Nelson McCormack was the first to turn for home, pursued by Admiral Lock, Harvest Child, Bingen King, Lord Nepean, and Invader. Both Lord Nepean and Harvest Child came fast over the last bit. the former beating Harvest Child by a neck, the latter heading Nelson McCormack on the post for second. Ribbonwood’s Last was two and a-half lengths back fourth, being followed by Ricardo, Admiral Lock, Concertina and Invader.

The field was still bunched in the next circuit, but running down the back Gold Jacket broke and interfered with Kohara and Machine Gun. Padlock and Terence Dillon were still on terms passing the stands the second time, attended closely by Prince Pointer. Jewel Pointer, Gold Jacket (who again broke on the post), Kohara, queen’s Own,, Taiaro and Great Bingen. Three and a-half furlongs from home there was only a length and a-half between Terence Dillon, Padlock and Prince Pointer, with Jewel Pointer, Kohara. Taiaro, Queen’s Own and Great Bingen closing up. Terence Dillon and Uio favourite were on terms coming into the home stretch, a length in front of Kohara and Jewel Pointer, with Taiaro, Great Bingen and Padlock next. Prince Pointer was challenged by Kohara in the run in, but the favourite had a bit in reserve and he won by half a length from the unlucky Kohara. with Great Bingen going strongly a length away third, a length and a-half in front of Jewel Pointer, who went his best race for
