(Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 9.5 a.m. PARIS. Wednesday. Actors played double roles on Christmas night. When the sceneshifters struck for higher wages the actors were called upon to shift the scenery themselves during the intermissions, and the management of the Odeon Theatre was forced to substitute another play for the one scheduled, “The Blue Bird,” by Maeterlinck, because the scenery was too heavy for the actors.
