AMERICANS WELCOMED

REPARATIONS COMMITTEE PARIS PRESS PLEASED (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) PARIS, Tuesday. The consent by the American Government to be represented by two American citizens on the committee of experts for a final settlement of the reparation question, and the manner in which that consent was given, has considerably cheered those who are looking forward to these negotiations. There is an apparent hope that General Dawes, or at least a man of his character, will be selected to steer the committee clear of entanglements. The whole Press, with the exception of one word of opposition voiced in “L’Echo de Paris,” is favourable to the unofficial presence of America on the committee.
