Trotting Modes are Dull
The few gay raincoats and vivid little pull-on hats that appeared to lighten the procession of sombre black and brown suits and coats at Alexandra Park to-day, were welcome relief in a picture that was strangely dull for even a damp Christmas racing occasion. The forbidding skies made it impossible to wear any but essentially serviceable garments, and they for the most part were of the tailored variety, with only heer and there a glimpse of a frilly frock beneath some sturdy wrap. Among those present w r ere: Mrs. Penty, pleated frock of amber crepe de chine with black fur wrap and small blue hat. Mrs. George McMillan, frock of black satin with floral scarf and black hat. Mrs. C. Browne, cedarwood tailleur of tweeds with furs and brown hat. Mrs. Bickerton Fisher, checked tailored suit with furs and hat of russet felt to tone. Mrs. Stewart, navy blue tailored suit with navy hat to tone. Mrs. J. A. B. Hellaby, frock of gray chenille with wide hat to tone. Mrs. Diamond, mist blue frock under .fur-trimmed brown coat and small brown hat. Mrs. Kingston, ash grey frock and hat to tone with coat of russet shade. Mrs. Mann, cinnamon frock of crepe with black embossed coat and beige hat. Miss Binsted, taupe-shaded suit of tweed with rose felt hat and rose jumper. Mrs. O’Connor, flecked suit of brown tweed with furs and petunia hat. Mrs. Boucher, steel grey tailored suit and small navy blue velvet hat. Mrs. H. Harris, navy blue tailored suit and scarlet hat. Mrs. Glover Clark, sealing-wax red frock with matching scarf and beige hat. Mrs. Jackson, black and gold frock, marmot coat, with black hat. Miss W. Stewart, green and beige printed frock of milanese, and navy coat and hat to tone. Mrs. McManemin, navy blue frock, with brown velvet coat, and powder blue felt hat. Mrs. Lptimer, black crepe de chine frock, and black hat. Mrs. F. Newel, striped crepe de chine frock, with rose du barri felt hat and beige coat. Mrs. Newell, navy blue frock, under grey coat, with ciel blue hat. Mrs. Walter Clegg, henna shaded ensemble suit, and hat of cyclamen tones. Mrs. S. E. Scott, frosted green chenille frock, under furred green coat, with hat to tone. Mrs. Hume, navy blue ensemble, with grey fur and navy hat. Miss Ethne Lloyd, tailored grey suit, with blue scarf and grey hat. Mrs. Lusk, black crepe de chine frock, with corded coat of russet shade, and hat to match. Miss Frater, beige frock, under black coat, with black and beige hat. Mrs. Potter, bricque and green patterned frock, with fur-trimmed coat, and black hat. Mrs. J. C. Beale (Hamilton), ivory and blue spotted frock, with fur coat and beige hat. Mrs. H. Baker (Hamilton), tailored suit of cedar rose tweed with powder blue hat. Mrs. Mark Davis, navy blue tailored frock with coat of lacquer red leather and black hat. Mrs. J. Gibson, black frock of satin crepe with black fur coat. Mrs. Donald Gorrie, checked ensemble of rose and beige tricolette and hat to tone. Mrs. McGregor Grant, steel grey frock and hat, with petunia coat. Mrs. Jack FEellaby, ensemble of oyster shading with hat to match. Miss G. Taylor, black pleated crepe de chine frock with black coat and hat. Mins B. Mrs. Burton, lavender cape ensemble with beige hat. Mrs. Stephen Hunter, black tailored suit and beech brown hat. Mrs. Macklow, beige crepe de chine frock with rose and blue relief and beige hat. Mrs. C. Jonas, black satin crepe frock and black hat with touch of lacquer red. Miss Stewart, deep petunia coat of corded velour with furs and black hat. Mrs. Mervyn Reed, apple green frock and coat with felt hat to match. Mrs. Buchanan, checked tailleur of stone tweeds with small black hat. Mrs. Bray, black tailored ensemble with black bangkok hat banded with beige velvet. Mrs. C. J. Schnauer, ensemble of pearl grey tricolette with touches of fur and wide grey hat. Mrs. C. Motion, black crepe de chine frock under black coat with black liat appliqued with gold thread. Miss Motion, powder blue frock of crepe de chine with touches of lotus pink and pastel felt hat. Mrs. Massey, navy blue frock with oriental embroidery and black coat with navy hat. Mrs. P. Margetts, tailleur of navy blue with beige and green scarf and leaf green hat. Mrs. Carr, pleated frock of beige erepella with beige cape and felt hat. Mrs. J. Connolly, frock of navy blue georgette relieved with pastel pink and pink felt hat with black fur coat.
