BERLIN GAS EXPLOSIONS
FLAMES SPREAD WIDELY RAIL TRAFFIC STOPPED Times Cable. LONDON, Monday. The Berlin correspondent of “The Times” says an explosion resembling the upheaval London occurred at a local railway station, when an oil-gas pipe leading underneath the rails, from which the gas receptacles in the passenger coaches are filled, became leaky.
The gas percolated upwards and was set on fire by some means. A series of violent explosions occurred. This was followed by flames which spread over several hundreds of square yards. The traffic on 25 sets of lines was stopped. The firemen were several hours in controlling the outbreak.
