H. A. VACHELL’S “QUINNEYS”

PICTURESQUE SETTINGS 'l’here are many picturesque settings in the Gaumont British film, • Quinneys,” which is adapted from H. A. VacheU’s famous novel. For the delightful “Dream Cottage” of the Quinneys, Maurice the wellknown producer of this film, kindly lent his own Tudor cottage at Godstone. The story of “Quinneys” is based on the contrast of the fake and the genuine, both in persons and antiques, but it is not easy to detect the faking of the genuine antiques which were reconstructed for the antique shop in the film version of the novel. For the film shop, a suite of three rooms was arranged to facilitate the passage of a moving camera, which from an optical point of view, Elvey used as if the shop were a character in the film. The handsome English actor, John Longden, plays a delightful double role as Quinneys, senior and junior. Others in the cast are Alma Taylor, Cyril McLaglen and Henry Vibart. This production is due for release kr Briiish Dominions Films.
