TRAINEE KILLED

FELL AGAINST LOADED RIFLE STEEL SPLINTERS FLY (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 'J. 3O a.m. MELBOURNE, To-day. A number of military trainees rushed into a tent during: a thunderstorm at Williamstown, a suburb* of Melbourne, yesterday afternoon, and fell against some rifles, one of which happened to be loaded. The weapon exploded, the bullet shattering some of the other rifles and splintering a bayonet. William Doyle was killed and four other trainees are suffering from minor wounds from flying steel.
