BREAKERS SIGHTED

SONOMA WARNS MARINERS Press Association WELLINGTON, Sunday. The following navigation warning was broadcast from Sydney radio on Saturday: “The master of the Sonoma reports breakers existing due east and west about 500 feet long, were sighted at mid-day on December 20 at latitude 30.51 south, longitude 158.19 east. The breakers were passed about onequarter mile off. and could be seen very plainly. Sea smooth and light north-east breeze.”

The position indicated is 70 miles north-west of Lord Howe Island, and about 260 miles from the Australian coast.
