RAFT BREAKS ADRIFT

A raft of about 60 logs in tow to the tug boats Wakanui and Wakaiti broke adrift in a raging gale in the Hauraki Gulf last Wednesday. Next morning, after the boats had spent the night at anchor near the mouth of the Piako River, the drifting sections, minus some logs, were picked up and again taken in tow. The tow-boats and raft arrived at Auckland at midnight on Saturday.
