COMMUNITY CLUB

ANNUAL BREAKING-UP The boys of the Community Club, Nelson Street, held a gala night for their breaking-up recently. In the absence of the president, Mrs. N. E. Ferner, the chair was taken by Mr. A. J- Williamson. Addressing the members, Mr. Williamson stressed the value of character and hoped that as a result of their association together the boys would remain true to the ideals of the organisation. He mentioned that a greatly-enlarged programme had been prepared for the coming year when the club reopened in February. In the interim the younger boys would meet each afternoon on the playground for sports, and the older boys after 5 p.m. on Victoria Park. Several fine cups were to be competed for. A programme of gymnastics and recitations was greatly enjoyed. During the evening all members Signed a handsome book to be presented to Mrs. Ferner.
