MEMORABLE ORDER OF TIN HATS
"MOTHS” AND THE WAR One of the most interesting South African annuals will be that published as an Armistice souvenir by the Memorable Order of Tin Hats. This Order of ex-Seryicemen was founded 18 months ago’ in Durban, and has grown so rapidly that there are now “dugouts” and “shellholes” in all provinces; “shellholes” are being formed in England, and the membership exceeds 16.000. The “Moth Annual” will De unique in that all the articles and sketches are by ex-Servicemen, who recall many experiences, mostly of a humorous nature, of the war period. General Smuts, who is a Moth, has written an hitherto unpublished account of a striking incident during the campaign in East Africa, and there are many other well-known contributors. The annual has a cover design in four colours, and is illustrated with photographs and sketches, many of the latter by “Old Bill Evo," who originated the movement.
