CHALLENGES PLAYED BARTLEETS CLOSE WIN E. L. Bartieet, Auckland's too man, had a close win from V. R. Johns in a challenge match played this week. Bartleet won, 7—5, 7—5. After ha\ mg a margin all the way the match shows that Johns is still a dangerous man. M. Aid red (Parnell! challenged G Martin (Remuera> for the 16th and las-: rung of the singles ladder Jos: Miss B. Newton tried hard to displace Miss M. Richardson from the !»th rung of the women's singles. Miss Richardson won. 6—4, 6—S, 6—4. Horne and Lamb lost their fourth position on the doubles ladder to ih * challengers Turner and Hubble, ti score being 6—B, 3—6. Harrison and Harrison boat Andrews and Barfoot, 6—2, 6—2, in a doubles ladder match. JUNIOR LADDER The ladder committee has now arranged the junior men’s ladder follows:—1 C. G. Bowden. 2 J. I. Gregory. 3 G. V. Adams. 4 M. ’Wilson. 5 R. T. Carter. 6 S. A. Carter, 7 hi I*. Both vi lie. S W. N. Forbes, 9 A. S Hooper, 10 C. G. Marshall.
