THE “TARIFF” QUESTION
CRICKETERS DECIDE ISSUE “BREAKERS” BEAT "MAKERS” The “Tariff Breakers” carried too many guns for the “Tariff Makers” in the annual Auckland insurance Managers’ cricket match at the' Domain, played during the mid-week. “Tariff Makers” ran up the useful total of 172 runs. H. Warner showed that he could bat like his famous namesake by running up the best score of the innings, a solid 64. Newbold, Clay, Miller, Pavitt and Binney also showed good form. The “Breakers” swamped the opposition, but only after an exciting tussle, in which Davenport and Duncan rose to it in great style, each notching a half-century. Sinclair, Kingston and Pope also did well, the innings finally closing for 190, just IS runs more than their opponents had scored.
