Horton, Bowman, Parkin and Askin played for Yorkshire. “The outsanding men in Lancashire’s I frequent spells of ' brilliance were Fairclough (the captain) and Ellaby, the former excelling in halfback craft and the latter by forceful running and tremendous power and finishing making light of the somewhat feeble efforts at tackling of the Yorkshire defenders.” The same day this match was played, Lou Brown was helping Wigan to secure a spectacular victory over Broughton Rangers by 47 points to 10. Brown scored three tries out of eleven, Sullivan kicking seven goals. Huddersfield was leading in the club championship when the last mails left, Wigan being sixth in a list of 29.

OTAHUHU SCHOOL HAS FINE RECORD IN SPORT A REMARKABLE record was disclosed at the presentation of prizes of the Otahuhu Public School on Tuesday evening. The school athletic team won the Auckland Primary Schools’ Championship Athletic Shield for the third time in succession, and the following members of the team were presented with medals for winning championship events at the sports meeting:—J. McManus, half-mile champion; D. Cochrane, half-mile walking champion; and C. Docherty, three medals for annexing the high jump, long jump and 100 yards'under 14 years championship. The junior Rugby football fifteen won the . Rupert Moore shield as winner of its grade, and the senior team annexed the Gunson shield as runner-up in its grade. The senior basketball team captured the Rupert Moore cup as runner-up in the competitions.
