“FIRST-CLASS ACTING”
RECENT WRESTLING BOUTS COUNCILLOR’S IMPRESSION “So much furniture was damaged at the last two wrestling bouts in the Town Hall that the town clerk would not take the responsibility of letting the hall again,” said the Mayor, Mr. G. Baildon, to the City Council last evening. The Mayor said the damage done was being repaired. Cr. J. B. Paterson said he was told there was a great deal of smoking. He moved that the use of the hall be granted provided there was proper supervision such as was provided by the Boxing Association. Or. E. J. Phelan: I went t.o the last wrestling bout out of curiosity. I saw nothing unseemly. It was merely first-class acting. The public went there for thrills, and the wrestlers provided them. The motion was carried.
