Mr. Justice Frazer left for the South, by the Limited last evening. Mr. John Farrell returns to town to-morrow from a holiday in Rotorua. Dr. W. A. Gunn leaves this evening to visit Timaru, and will be away until the middle of January. The Hon. J. A. Hanan, M.L.C., arrived in Wellington by the Maunganui vesterday, after making a tour of the world. Mr. W. H. W'oodward, Chief Justice of Samoa, is a passenger for Auckland by the Tofua. He is on furlough. Mr. George Finn, who has been visiting the South Island as far south as Invercargill, returned to Auckland this morning on the Limited. Mr. G. E. Vivian, officer-in-charge of tiie automatic telephones in the Rost and Telegraph Department in Auckland. is at present on his annual leave. Mr. J. E. Close, of the Takapuna Fo rough Council. who will leave -hortly to visit England, has been -ranted leave of absence by the council. Colonel W. L. H. Sinclair-Burgess, C. 8.. < \M.G.. D. 5.0., Chief of the General Staff, New Zealand Forces, arrived from Wellington by the Limited this morning. Mr. W. D. Revington has been appointed engineer to the Christchurch Tramway Board from 50 applicants. Mr. Revington has been chief engineer ; 1 1 the board’s power station for many years.—P.A. Mr. C. J. Rcnaldson, who has retired from the position of manager of the National Bank in Christchurch, was met by clients to-day of the hank and presented with a mahogany Uesk, and a wallet containing a cheque for £3OO. Mr. Ronaldson .joined the bank’s service at Milton. Later he moved to Dunedin and, in '•s9B, was appointed manager at Invercargill.
