FIFTY YEARS’ BANKING

MR. BUCKLETON CONGRATULATED Press Association WELLINGTON, Wednesday. A large number of officers of the Bank of New Zealand from all parts of the Dominion assembled in the board room yesterday when Mr. Henry Buckleton, general manager, who cele*. brated his 50th year of service with the bank on Saturday, was presented with a portrait in oils, painted by A. Nicoll, and a pearl tiepin. Mrs. Buckleton was presented with a set of brushes in enamels. Testimony was borne as to Mr. Buckleton’s ability and high sense of duty. A replica of his portrait is to hang in the board room. In the course of his reply Mr. Buckk* ton said the board and the executive were only too glad to give officers every opportunity of qualifying for high positions. He stressed the important of the technical training of bani officers.
