HORTICULTURISTS MEET
GOOD BUSINESS EXPECTED Mr. J. W. Emslie presided at the annual meeting of the Auckland Council of the Horticultural Trades Association last evening. In the annual reports before the meeting it was stated that the weather conditions had been favourable during the past year, but there hail been several disturbances, but growth had been good, and the trade, especially in the North, had improved. z “The finances of the country are better than they have been for years, and it may be expected that this will affect our business during the coming year if we do our share to maintain good stock and place it attractively before the public,” stated the Dominion secretary, Mr. G. A. Green. Citrus expansion, horticultural education, forestry, and a number of other matters were mentioned as having progressed favourably during the 3'ear. The election of officers resulted: Chairman, Mr. J. W. Emslie; vicechairman, Messrs. J. H. Cutler and E. Hosking; honorary secretary, Mr. A. Cole; minute secretary, Mr. C. G. Hopkins; honorary treasurer, Mr. A. G. Brown. Mr. Cutler was appointed a delegate to the Dominion conference. It was decided to support the election of the following officers: President, Mr. V. C. Davies, New Plymouth: vice-presidents, Mr. W. A'. Kingsbeer, Palmerston North and Mr. W. Edginton, Lower Riccarton.
