MEADOWBANK SCHOOL
EREAKIHG-UP CEREMONY The children of thjg Meadowbank School, Kemuera, assembled in the school grounds yesterday afternoon for the annual breaking-up ceremony. Many parents and friends were present. On the invitation of the headmaster, Mr. J. F. Roberts, the chairman of the School Committee, Mr. P. D. Wright, addressed the children. He complimented those who had gained their proficiency certificates, and to those who would not be returning to school next year he gave special advice and encouragement. Seventy-two good attendance certificates were presented—a fine record for a school with a roll of 400. An endorsed competency and a competency certificate as well as 41 proficiency certificates were also presented and two songs were sung by the ciiildren. und r the leadership of Mr. J. S. Stanton, the assistant-master. Special prizes awarded by the School C ominittee were as follow: For interest. in gardening work at chool, Owen Jones and Robert Duffin; ‘citizenship.” Alaisie Merson; sewing, Dorothy Evans: woodwork, Bruce Wright; cookery.
