BIRKENHEAD’S MAYOR
NOT SEEKING RE-ELECTION The Mayor of Birkenhead, Mr. E. G. Skeates, when entertaining councillors at the conclusion of the council meeting last evening, announced that he would not be seeking re-election as Mayor. Mr. Skeates said he and family were leaving for England in February, and he was selling his home in Birkenhead. After thanking councillors for their support during his term of office, Mr. Skeates presented Mr. A. Hadfield. Deputy-Mayor, with a silver entree dish on behalf of himself and the Mayoress as appreciation of the splendid way in which he had carried out his duties during the Mayor’s absence. Mr. A. Hadfield suitably replied.
