OPERA HOODOO I 'J’HE long-standing superstition in musical circles regarding j the unluckiness of the opera, “The Bohemian Girl/’ has been strengthened in Liverpool, where a company, despite his warning, persuaded Mr. J. Ernest Trowbridge, the operatic conductor, to produce it. He died shortly after beginning the rehearsals, which his widow, formerly Evelyn de Lara, of the Carl Rosa Opera Company, carried on until she died on November 19. The society then cancelled the production.
