The Federal authorities and shipping representatives, commenting on the cabled report about making increases in freights, point out that no change is likely in the rates on goods going to Britain. The increases refer only' to outward rates.

AUCTION NOTES Bye and Selit will sell by auction at their rooms, corner Pitt Street and Grey's Avenue, to-morrow (Friday), at 11 a.m., the whole of the furnishings of a nineroomed boardinghouse, known as "Glenora,” 4 Beresford Street. Meek, in the estate of Evelyn Creagh, will sell by auction at their rooms, Queen Street, opposite J.C.L., tomorrow (Friday), at 1 p.m., a twostoreyed house cf six rooms and conveniences, subdivided into two flats, situated at 4 Grafton Street, of Wellington Street, City. Geo. Walker, Ltd., will sell by auction at their premises, next to Smith and Caughey’s, at 11 o’clock, to-morrow (Friday), general household furnishings: at 1 p.m., further furnishings and the contents of a tea room, including tables, chairs, etc.
