SHOPLIFTERS CAUGHT

SISTERS ADMIT THEFTS Press Association CHRISTCHURCH. To-day. Five charges of shop-lifting were admitted by two women, Annie Celina Kortegast, aged 36, and Anita Esther Wilson, aged 28, at the Christchurch Magistrate’s Court to-day. A total of £l6 was involved. Chief-Detective Carroll stated that accused were sistei'.s. They were seen taking away articles from Beath and Co., and the police, on visiting accuseds’ home, discovered other articles, which accused frankly admitted taking from shops. The younger woman was married, with two children. The Magistrate, Mr. E. Mosley, said: “These offences have extended over a long period. It is difficult to know exactly what to do with these women. Offences of this sort should be dealt with by an adequate penalty," Accused were remanded until tomorrow.
