CAR’S DOUBLE DROP
OCCUPANTS’ NARROW ESCAPE CRASH OVER STEEP BANK (From Our Own Correspondent) PUKEKOHE, To-day. The occupants of'a five-seater sedan car, Mr. H. J. Flay, a well-known Bombay farmer, and his wife, had a narrow escape from injury this morning when the car was precipitated over a steep bank on the Pukekohe— Bombay road, near Pukekohe East. The vehicle was proceeding to Pukekohe when the bursting of a rear tyre caused it to deviate from the road over a 10ft bank. The car smashed through a wire fence and continued its career into the property of Mrs. Papesch, and down a further drop of 9ft, being brought to a standstill as a result of the front exle striking the camber on the private road. Had the car traversed another six inches it would have fallen down a 40ft drop into a basin. The car was extensively damaged, Mrs. Flay suffering shock.
