An inquest concerning the Selwyn fatality, when Gustav Heckt, bushman, Was killed on Tuesday by a log falling On him was held at Mangatapu yestprday by Mr. J. W. Barr-Brown, district coroner. Evidence by Arthur Clarence Olsen and Ernest Woodcock showed that Heckt met his death while attaching had fallen on to another tree. Without warning the cut section It strop to a recently-foiled tree which dropped four feet, crushing Heckt, who underneath. Heckt was an experienced bushman and bad been in Ihe employ of th 6 Selwyn Timber Company for 20 years. A verdict of accidental death with W> blame attachable to anyone was Mtturned.
