WORK BY CHIEFS AND BRAVES TO-DAY sees tlie second Christmas page in the history of the Wigwam, with further evidence of the talent of Chiefs and Bravo. Elsewhere will be found the competition results, the I entries and a selection of tales and poems from the large quantity of material sent in. Week by week these young people become better acquainted with the ways of art, and better versed in the school of experi-,-im" . from which they will emerge well fitted to take their places tli ■ coining writers and artists of a still young Dominion. Harvest Moon, perhaps the most versatile of our members, i- r■•-presented in all three sections of the competitions, her ‘•kittle Gold Bird” being one of the best stories she has yet written. Her delightful silhouettes and poems are becomnig increasingly familiar to Chiefs and Braves. Watching Warrior has given us a lvell handled tale which will have an immediate appeal to Boy Scouts. This story, though exceeding the word limit, is published in its entirety. Bed Star, one of our most loyal Braves, though often confined to bed, has already written many poems that will be long remembered. In her delightful word-picture, “The one line stands our with an undeniable suggestion of power: “The stars that pierce the purple dusk are Arabs of the night. Thoughts beyond her years often flow from the pen of this little invalid. The work of Little Swift Canoe has a Celtic tenderness, which is always evident in her poetry. For a girl of sixteen who hearkens to “salt winds breathing on a swelling sea,” the future holds much of promise. Many of her poems and stories have appeared in the Wigwam page. The time has now come to congratulate the two Wigwam scribes whose work has been adjudged the best for the year just concluded. Sun Cloud and Little Thunder will have the warm good wishes of the other scribes and all members of the Wigwam. 7,i the shadow of the Totem Pole that bears so many familiar and well loved names, Redfeather salutes you all and wishes you a happy Christmas and Good Hunting throughout the coming REDFEATHER.
