X. Hubble, who prosecuted, incurred debts amounting to £SBO without reasonable expectation of being able to pay them. “I find that Laing was engaged in a business about which he had little knowledge." said Mr. F. K. Hunt, S-M----this morning. "He started behind scratch and there is no evidence of extravagant living, so I shall admit him to probation for two years. He will have to pay £2O towards the cost of the prosecution. "This does not mean that other men convicted of breaches of the Bankruptcy Act w-ill get probation/' concluded the Magistrate.
