BOILING TAR IGNITED
While a horse-drawn tar-boiler in Shirley Road. Papatoetoe, was being moved this morning, the boiling contents splashed over the sides of the container and caught fire.
Dens© volumes of smoke rose from the fire, and the Papatoetoe Fire Brigade was called out. Its services were not required, however, as the board’s employees quelled the flames with sand.
