STRAND
LAST DAYS OF “THE DOVE” Tlie Auckland season of “The Dove,” Norma Talmadge’s great picture, is now drawing to a close. Several thousands of Aucklanders have seen this fine melodrafna of life in the colourful South American republic of Costa Itoja, have felt the charm of that graceful cabaret dancer, “The Dove,” and felt disgust with Don Jose Sandoval, “the bes’ damn ,caballero in all Costa Roja,” as he airily styled himself. “The Dove” is a beautiful story of the love of a delightful Spanish girl for a young American, sharpened by the jealously of Sandoval. It is a story of the lure of the tropics, of intrigue and revolution and high-flying romantic adventure. Gilbert Roland and Noah Beery appear in support of Miss Talmadgc. The screening of the picture is preceded by a stage prologue, in which Miss Mary Co field is the soloist. The next big attraction at the Strand Theatre will be the inimitable Harold Lloyd’s latest success, “Speedy.” “Speedy” is said to eclipse all former works by the great comedy artist Harold Lloyd. The public has long taken it for granted that with each new picture Harold will give them something wholly new and with refreshing comedy never before seen on the screen. Although it is becoming exceedingly difficult as time goes along to And new funny situations, yet with “Speedv” the Lloyd fans will see an entirely different storj’ chock full of comical situations.
