“ADJUNCT TO R.S.A.”
TAKAPUNA EX-SERVICEMEN ACTIVITIES OF CLUB “As evidence of the club’s activities since August of last year the club has raised and expended in provision of employment for ex-servicemen no less a sum than £1,092. Further, 140 families have been looked after by the association and I hope you will agree that we are a useful adjunct to the R.S.A.” This information was given by Major A. H. Wilkie, who presided at a smoke concert of the Takapuna Ex-Service-men’s Club on Saturday evening. Over 100 guests were present. In addition to a lecture upon “How the Panama Canal Works,” by Mr. Paul Kingdon. a good programme was contributed by Petty-Officer Horrocks and Messrs. Dan Flood, Griffen, Lorigan, Captain Cooper and others. Messrs. Swain and Griffen acted as accompanists*
